Olympic Games 2008

logo_juegos_olimpicos.gifI am watching the inaugural ceremony of the Olympic Games (Beijing 2008). One thing has been very clear for me: there are a lot of chinese! :-) Most of the performances consisted of a lot of people doing beautiful figures and movements.

barcelona92.jpgIn Barcelona 92 the dominant feeling was the sense of history and art…

Indeed, the ceremony I liked the most was Los Ángeles 84, when one guy crossed flying the Olimpic Stadium with no more histories… hundreds of TV audience got shocked after that demostration of technological power (and tecnological attitude). I like that! :-)

    Although not listed in this way, the European Union emerged again as the victors at the Olympic Games with 79 gold medals

    While not wanting to belittle the achievement of Phelps, only a swimmer can win 8 medals. A decathlete competes in 10 events but can only win one medal.

    I totally agree on the “swimmers” view. however it is still very remarkable, but in the context of olympic swiming.

    Regarding the EU coment… I see your point, but I am not sure if the EU was a unique country it would have the same opportunities of sending to the Olympic Games so many athletes as it does.
